Sherburne, NY – Tecnofil Chenango SAC is facing $124,740 in fines after OSHA investigators uncovered safety hazards and repeat violations at their Sherburne, NY facility. The copper wire manufacturer is accused of continuing to expose workers to potentially deadly or disabling injuries because of missing or inadequate machine safeguards.
OSHA cited Tecnofil Chenango on Feb. 11, 2016 for one willful, seven repeated and nine serious violations, with proposed fines totalling $124,740. In 2013, OSHA cited the plant for several hazards involving unguarded or inadequately guarded operating parts of machines. Inspections conducted between in the fall of 2015 found numerous instances of new and recurring hazards on die presses, saws, lathes and other machinery. OSHA also found that workers were exposed to electric shock hazards.
Tecnofil Chenango SAC manufactures copper and copper alloys for coaxial cable, power cable, plumbing fittings, auto parts and other applications.
