Lariat, TX – 39-year-old William Don Ivey died from injuries suffered in an industrial accident at the AGP Grain Facility in Lariat, TX late last week.
Emergency responders found Mr. Ivey entangled in equipment at the top of a grain elevator. The injuries were life threatening, and killed the manager of the AGP Facility. Mr. Ivey was working with four other employees at the time of his death.
Machine guards and machine guarding refers to a shield or device that covers the hazardous areas of a machine. These guards prevent contact between the machine’s moving parts and a worker’s body or extremities. Machine guards can also be used to control the exit of debris or noise from a machine.
Machine guarding protects employees while operating a particular piece of machinery, or while working near industrial equipment and machines.
Local law enforcement agencies are investigating the accident, and OSHA will get involved this week.
